Description
Over the past twenty years, Viewpoints training has ignited the imaginations of choreographers, actors, directors, designers, dramaturgs and writers. Viewpoints is taught all over the world and used by countless theater artists in the rehearsal process, yet its theory and application have rarely been documented. Now Anne Bogart and Tina Landau, two of the field’s most gifted and innovative directors, have created a book that distills the philosophy and provides a step-by-step recipe for using Viewpoints as a training and rehearsal technique.
Anne Bogart is the artistic director of SITI Company, which she founded with Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki in 1992. She is also professor at Columbia University where she runs the Graduate Directing Program.
Tina Landau is a freelance director and writer and member of Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Her original work includes Space, Theatrical Essays, Beauty, Stonewall, 1969, Dream True (with composer Ricky Ian Gordon) and Floyd Collins (with composer Adam Guettel).
