The souvenir programme from the first ever European tour of the Shanghai Kunju Theatre, organised by Cardiff Laboratory Theatre in 1987 and presented with the assistance of Visiting Arts and the British Council.
It is a beautifully illustrated booklet containing information about the history and art of Kunju Theatre as well as descriptions of the stories that were presented: ‘Macbeth’, ‘The Peony Pavillion’ and excerpts and highlights featuring ‘The Woman Warrior’: ‘Stopping the Horse’, ‘Borrowing the Fan’, ‘Autumn River’ and ‘Stealing the Crock of Silver’.
