Description
A monograph of the Czech scenographer and architect Vladimir Soukenka that follows his theatrical works from the early drama productions in the 1980s in the theater in Gottwald (now the City Theatre Zlin) to the present.
He studied stage design and architecture in Prague, specializing in scenic design. He spent time during his studies in the studio of Professor Josef Svoboda and, after a period at the Workers’ Theatre in Gottwaldov, Svoboda hired him to work at Laterna Magika theatre where he was a scenic designer and head of the technical arts department. He began working in TV in 1988 and took a teaching position at the Czech Technical Univeristy in Prague in 1991.
He has created more than 80 scenic designs for the theatre and more than 50 sets for television studios and live broadcasts and has collaborated with directors of theatre, dance and opera. He currently has his own studio in the Department of Interior and Exhibition Design, of which he is head.
