A Czech language exploration of the work of renowned Czech scenographer Josef Svoboda.<\/p>\n

The publication represents the personality and work of the world-famous stage designer Josef Svoboda in a changing socio-historical context through his conversations with US theatre practitioner of Czech origin, Jarka Burian.<\/p>\n

Josef Svoboda’s importance in the history of world stage design is crucial.\u00a0He created more than 700 productions at home and abroad, has worked with the most notable directors \u00a0of the late 20th century, such as Alfred Radok, Otomar Krej\u010da, Giorgio Strehler and Laurence Olivier.<\/p>\n

The publication contains comprehensive, yet unpublished visual material from the private archives of Josef Svoboda and private archives of Jarka Burian.<\/p>\n\n\n
